Well since our post last week, Jakey has continued to surprise us with his sleeping routines! He has consistently demonstrated that he does not need a nap at 9/9:30am like he was doing for so long. Let's give a little recap!
Friday: slept from 1-4:30
Saturday: 11-11:45 and 1:30-4
Sunday: 11-2
Monday: 10-1 and 3-5 but he had a slight fever all day :-(
Tuesday: 12:45 - 1:15 (that's it!!)
Today: no nap yet... Maureen is going to put him down at 1pm and she said he has not been fussy one bit today.
What a crazy little man! I guess he has discovered that being awake and playing during the day are a lot more fun than sleeping :-) Can't say I blame him. BUT, his mommy sure does wish that she could have the luxury of naptime every now and again!!

Let's Give Jake a Shout Out.....
For getting up at 5:30am this morning. Whoah!
Normally he wakes up right around 7am. As in, we don't really need to set an alarm clock. He wakes us up at 7am if we're still asleep.
Jakey's sleep pattern has been a little off for the last week. He's usually pretty predictable with a 9-11am nap and a 1:30-3:30pm nap. Here is a little taste of him throwing us a curve ball!
Saturday: nap from 9:30am - 12pm and 4-6pm
Sunday: nap from 9:30am - 11:30am and 2:30pm - 3:15pm
Monday: nap from 11am - 1pm
Tuesday: up at 5:30am!!! Nap from 9:30am - 10:15am..... waiting to see how the afternoon nap goes!
I wonder if he is trying to give up his morning nap and is just having a hard time doing it? Seems a little young to give up a nap BUT Jake is a very curious little boy. I think he thinks he is missing out on tons of fun stuff while he is sleeping. Probably especially at day care!

Walking.... Well with a Chair...!
Little man took one of our big, heavy wood dining room chairs and utilized it to maneuver himself around the room yesterday. It was quite entertaining for both him and me! The chair moves at just the right speed against the wood floor so he doesn't go too fast but it's not too slow either. He grabbed on to the back of the chair and then proceeded to start walking, pushing the chair out in front of him and using it to balance himself. He got a kick out of banging the chair in to his high chair and scaring the heck out of Bailey. Oh yah, and then he ran the chair in to the wine rack while Mommy wasn't looking..... good one, Mommy. No broken glass luckily :-)

Uh-Oh..... Here Come the Stairs!
I have got to capture a video of Jakey going up and down the stairs. He has become quite the pro. He is excellent at going up the stairs now..... fast little booger! We just showed him how to go down the stairs backwards over the weekend and he picked it up after like 5 tries. He's a little more unsteady going down but boy does he think it is fun that he learned that new skill. Of course now we need two more baby gates.... darn. It's like Fort Knox to get around in our house these days!!

DAAAAAA-DA!
Yes, Jake knows who dada is. Yesterday he and I were playing in the bedroom and Paul was in the bathroom taking a shower. In an instant, Jake yelled "daaaaa-da" and took off running (well, crawling really fast) to the bathroom and stood up against the shower door. He knows who his dada is!
We're working on mama.... normally when you say "mama" to him, he just says "dada" back. But come to find out through reading different parenting articles, it's pretty common for kids this age to call their mama and dada the same thing because they are still learning to differentiate.
He's also getting good with "dog" and "duck"... or at least I know when he says those words :-)

My Little Boy!
The little man is growing fast and furious! He does new things every day that make me see him in a whole new light. He is certainly turning in to a toddler and is leaving those baby days behind. He is trying to crawl and climb all over everything! Last week he climbed on top of his activity table and Paul said he crawled on top of his little piano and it collapsed under his weight.... haha, he didn't care! Jake's newest trick is being able to open doors. If he stands just on his very tip toes, he can open doors. And he gets the idea to open them and shut them, open them and then leave the room he is in, etc. Smart little kid he is!
